Gothic Text Generator

Create gothic, Old English style text with fraktur letters. Copy and paste into bios, names and posts. Free, runs in your browser.

How it works

Each letter and digit is swapped for a matching character from the Unicode standard. The result is ordinary text, not a font file, so it stays styled when you paste it. Characters that have no styled version, such as punctuation, emoji and non-Latin letters, are left as they are. The gothic styles use the Unicode Fraktur letters, a blackletter design also called Old English.

Example: “Hello 123” becomes ℌ𝔢𝔩𝔩𝔬 123 in fraktur, 𝕳𝖊𝖑𝖑𝖔 123 in bold fraktur. Digits stay plain because Unicode has no Fraktur digits.

Frequently asked questions

Is gothic text the same as an Old English font?

Both usually mean blackletter lettering. This tool pastes Unicode Fraktur characters, which are text. A font such as Old English Text MT is a font file and cannot be pasted into a bio.

Is gothic text easy to read?

Not at length. It suits a word, a short name or a heading. For longer text, use a plainer style such as sans-serif bold.

Why do ℭ, ℌ, ℑ, ℜ and ℨ look unusual?

Those capitals are stored in a different Unicode block than the rest of the alphabet. They follow the same style, but some fonts draw them a little differently.

Can I use gothic text in a username?

Usually not. Most apps allow only plain letters and numbers in usernames. Use it in names, bios, captions and comments.
